Volunteer with Us! 3

The museum relies on volunteers to run and as such we are always on the look out for new volunteers.

At the moment we have one team of volunteers building our Nissen hut. This team tends to be found at the museum  most Sundays fro 10.30am. All that is needed to join this team is basic DIY skills and a good sense of humour (plus a liking for copious amounts of cake!).

Now the museum is on the cusp of opening we need other volunteers too and there are jobs that suit people with an hour or two to spare from time to time right up to those who are able to give a greater time commitment. Tasks can include restoring exhibits (inc. aircraft), making teas and coffees, catloguing exhibits, meeting and greeting visitors and keeping membership records.

Where possible we do provide training for our volunteers.

I am a member of RAG Lakenheath and looking to volunteer in the community. I am interested in Bottisham Airfield due to the history between the United States Air Force & the Royal Air Force. Can you please provide information what volunteer work is needed?

Good to hear from you. We have a wide of variety of volunteer work available. We are currently restoring the original 1940’s buildings so there are plenty of maintenance/DIY tasks such as painting. We also need people to meet and greet visitors, catalogue exhibits on computer spreadsheets, help organise displays, assist with marketing the museum etc. Most of our volunteer activities take place on Sundays. Please email me at jasonwebb@bottishamairfieldmuseum.org.uk or call on 07791 971799 for more details. Kind regards Jason.

Hi, I’d be really interested in volunteering to help out at the airfield. I have 12 years experience in restoring classic cars, I have also been a welder and sheet metal worker as well as a retained fire fighter and police officer. I have a real keen interest in anything 2nd world war related and would love the oppotunity to be part of the team.
    Many thanks
