Museum Set for Major Refurbishment

The trustees of the museum are in advanced talks with builders in regard to a major refurbishment of the original 1940’s museum buildings.

The buildings have not been properly refurbished since they were built in 1940 and are in urgent need of work to make them safely accessible to the public.

The work currently being discussed will the buildings will be re-roofed, new crittall windows fitted and the buildings will be re-rendered.

It is likely that the museum will be closed from mid-August 2018 until Spring 2019. Please watch this website and our social media pages for more updates. Please email us if you are planning a visit and want to check whether or not the museum will be open.

During this period the need more for volunteers to help will be greater than ever. To keep costs of the refurbishment within affordable limits we will need volunteers to undertake many tasks such as painting and decorating. If you are interested in volunteering please email us.
